What was Sellafield looking for?
We first won this contract in 2003 providing cleaning services to Sellafield site with over 300 employees transferring to us. We then gained a major engineering maintenance contract plus additional work covering landscaping, security and pest control.Sellafield site is a world-class site with critical infrastructure that requires constant vigilance.Health and safety governs every aspect of work at Sellafield and they needed a contractor on site that understands and respects this rule.
How did we help?
Our management team on site has developed an excellent working relationship with Sellafield Ltd management team and has been able to bundle services so successfully that there is just ‘one MITIE’ on site, with no silos at all. The MITIE team works with the client to ensure total compliance from MITIE people with all health and safety aspects.

Through our hard work, we have won a prestigious Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Award (GSA) for Best Cleaned Manufacturing Premises at the GSA annual 2009 awards ceremony for the services we provide. We also won an award from Sellafield Ltd for the best health and safety performance.
In 2004 we jointly won the prestigious PFM Partnership Award for best health and safety practices in the country.
