Imperial College London
General Pest Control
We're providing an all-encompassing pest control service to Imperial College across a multitude of buildings, and several campuses.
What was Imperial College looking for?
Imperial College spans around 90 different buildings across several campuses in South and West London, with a dozen or so different Building Managers responsible. The types of pest and level of pests vary from area to area.
Imperial required a provider with a good understanding of each sites conditions in order to be able to treat effectively. The previous contract had been based on a set number of visits resulting in the overall cost of the service being difficult to predict. Therefore, they also required a pest controller who could provide annual costing more accurately.
How did we help?
An all-encompassing contract was negotiated which covered all types of pests, with the exception of work requiring the hire of specialist access equipment such as bird work, and which removed the need for chargeable ad-hoc call outs. This immediately resolved Imperial’s concerns around budgetary control.
MITIE appointed a dedicated team of technicians who would get to know the College sites intimately, and would understand likely issues that might arise and how to deal with them. This, along with their pro-active approach in communicating issues and providing suggestions to the College, has led to a high quality of service delivery. The College Site Contract Managers have regularly provided very positive feedback on the quality of work undertaken by MITIE’s technicians.
The overall result has been delivery of a first class service for Imperial, which has resulted in the contract with MITIE being extended for a further two years.
The Director of Facilities and Property Management at Imperial College, Nick Roalfe, said: “The new 'all risks' contract which the College recently negotiated with MITIE is proving to be of great value and benefit to budgetary planning. The team supplied by MITIE to work with us are knowledgeable, proactive and reliable, and the service to date has more than met our expectations.”
