Refurbishment and improvement works
What was our client looking for?
Brunelcare was looking to refurbish 48 single bedroom flats spilt between
4, three story blocks co-joined by the communal area and wardens’ residence lodge. The scheme valued at around £740,000 is the second consecutive refurbishment project we have undertaken for Brunelcare.
How did we help?
As the building was occupied throughout the 44 week construction period,
it was essential for our team to keep disruption to a minimum while ensuring
the works were progressing accordingly. To make sure this was achieved,
we worked closely with the scheme manager and a decant flat was
provided. This vacant facility enabled residents to use the facilities whilst the
works were being carried out. During this time we installed new kitchens,
level access wet rooms and carried out a complete electrical rewire and
replacement of hot water systems. Our team also provided new internal
fire doors and installed new flooring, with safety flooring being installed in
kitchens and bathrooms.
In addition to the reconfiguration of the communal area, quiet room and
warden office we also installed a new composite entrance porch to each
of the 4 blocks. This nifty addition is multi-functional, providing additional
security whilst acting as the recharge hub for electric scooters.
As part of the improvement works we also provided a thorough site waste
management plan along with asbestos alert and notification.
With close resident liaison we provided design and colour choices for
each and every resident. DDA enhancements where requested in order to
ensure the completed works met with the full agreement of each individual
resident. As always our teams are always on hand to provide a prompt
response to resident queries and keep them informed every step of the way.
The results
Once complete, we received letters of commendation from both the
client and consultants in recognition of our resident focus and our open
collaborative consultative approach.
