Edinburgh Napier University
What was our client looking for?
Edinburgh Napier University was looking for a team who could provide
roofing services as well as a variety of associated joiner works – painting,
modifying condenser units, upgrading lab fume extract fans and replacing
lightning protection systems.
They needed a professional team who would cause minimal disruption to
the running of the university and also meet their stringent health and safety
How did we help?
The major work consisted of overlaying the existing flat roofs with new
insulation and then covering the entire roof with a single membrane, all
of which was bonded together with an adhesive compound. The flat
roofs also had old glass fibre rooflights which had to be removed and the
openings covered over with new plywood, insulation and felt to ensure the
whole roof area was completely insulated. Our client also wanted their flat
roofs to be brought up-to-date with a new cold applied roofing system. We
fit all types, shapes and sizes of roofs and carry out associated works, so this
project was just right for our team of experts.
Working in partnership with our client, we carefully planned the works
around the running of the university so lectures and tutorials could carry
on as normal. Health and safety is a top priority for us at MITIE and all our
procedures are carried out with safety in mind. From fitting triple handrails around the perimeter of the building to installing debris nets to protect
people in the area - we leave nothing to chance.
Edinburgh Napier University has a fantastic new roof. Better still, it was fitted
without any disruption to our clients’ day-to-day operations as a dynamic,
innovative and forward-thinking university.
