The work we’re doing for Waitrose is a great example. In 2012, we completed their first biomass-powered, low-carbon energy centre at their East Cowes store on the Isle of Wight. The on-site energy centre produces electricity, heating and cooling, and runs on woodchip from local sustainable woodlands. It’ll cut the store’s grid electricity by 69%, and its gas by 84%. A second energy centre has already been installed at the Bracknell store, and there’s the potential to replicate this across further parts of the Waitrose estate.
