What was the client looking for?

Ofcom needed a facilities management company who could provide a total facilities management service, tailoring soft and hard services to fulfil Ofcom’s technical, economic and environmental agendas for a period of five years.  Ofcom desired innovation, cost-effectiveness and excellent service-delivery to allow them to continue usual operations at their various sites. 

How did we help?

Mitie have worked collaboratively with Ofcom over the last five years and currently provide a range of soft and hard services for Ofcom at their Riverside House, Birmingham and Haydock sites. Through implementing industry- leading technologies such as our direct audits platform, we have been able to provide Ofcom with real-time information about their assets, allowing for cost effective asset management.

The renewed contract for 2015 has seen Mitie further implement innovative strategies through technologies such as  Servicetrac - our cleaning auditing and performance monitoring software - to support the new contract’s shift to a stronger focus on soft services.

We've also employed a more empowered workforce with the provision of multi-skilled engineers.  Combined with our direct audits platform, this will allow us to deliver an integrated planned and reactive maintenance approach, keeping Ofcom’s assets in excellent condition.

For the renewed contract, Ofcom has also been provided with an improved servicedesk. By combining  the helpdesk function with the management of processes for planned and reactive tasks, the new servicedesk will result in a more proactive, streamlined and cost- effective management function.

Through our in house energy consultancy, Ofcom currently benefit from our automated metering solution (EVR) and monthly energy reports, which help to reduce energy consumption. We will continue to work collaboratively with Ofcom to further drive savings,  implementing our newer energy services  such as  our Energy & Maintenance Bureau (EMB) and Energy Data Management (EDM).
