In September 2015, Mitie undertook a 7 month, UK-wide project to develop a unique lighting solution for British Heart Foundation to improve energy efficiency and lighting ouput across their national estate.
What did the client need?
British Heart Foundation (BHF) was founded in 1961 by a group of medical professionals wanting to fund extra research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and circulatory disease. Today they are the nation’s heart charity and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research.
BHF were in need of an FM partner who could help them reduce energy consumption and improve the lighting across their estate.
How did we help?
To increase lighting efficiency within their stores whilst simultaenously improving sustainability, Mitie surveyed each BHF outlet, developing a bespoke solution for individual furniture and electrical stores across the county.
Mid project figures indicate a positive 53% energy saving per store, with an estimated annual saving of £150,000 a year for BHF (combined energy and maintenance saving).
BHF also decided they wanted to increase their lighting ouput so to resolve this we changed the ceiling grids in each store to 1.8x2.4m to compensate the new LED panels.
