Mitie accelerates Groupe PSA contract with £5.2m extension

  • Mitie secures a two-year extension to its engineering and FM contracts for Groupe PSA’s Luton and Coventry sites, building on a 10-year relationship with the vehicle manufacturer
  • The extension adds cleaning and waste management to the services Mitie already delivers at Groupe PSA’s sites in Luton, Toddington and Ellesmere Port

Mitie has secured a two-year extension on its ten-year partnership with Groupe PSA, Europe’s second largest carmaker and producer of Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles and Vauxhall brands. The contract is worth £5.2m across two years, with the possibility to extend for another two years.

The two-year extension will see Mitie continue to provide engineering, maintenance and repair services to Groupe PSA’s production plants, parts distribution centre and offices in Luton, as well as its office building in Coventry. These services are essential to support the factory’s production schedule and to minimise manufacturing downtime, ensuring that all Groupe PSA’s operations keep running smoothly.

Mitie will now also deliver cleaning and waste management services at the Luton and Toddington sites, as well as providing waste management services at the factory and office building in Ellesmere Port, where Groupe PSA manufactures the Vauxhall Astra. These additions to the contract make Mitie the first provider from which Groupe PSA has procured all three services – engineering, cleaning and waste management.

As part of its waste management service, Mitie will use technology solutions to improve waste management efficiency across the Luton, Toddington and Ellesmere Port sites. With waste bin monitoring technology, Mitie will be able to gather data on the volume of waste collected and on how different waste bin locations are used. This insight will inform recommendations that improve waste collection and segregation, increasing recycling rates and helping minimise Groupe PSA’s environmental impact.

Carlo Alloni, Managing Director, Technical Services and Integrated Facilities Management, Mitie, said:

“As the UK’s leading facilities management company, it’s a privilege to support one of Britain’s leading vehicle manufacturers. Having enjoyed a decade-long working relationship with Groupe PSA, it’s a pleasure to announce that we will be extending this partnership for a further two years, while also expanding our roster of services at the Luton, Toddington and Ellesmere Port sites.”
