Mitie achieves health and safety excellence with a flurry of RoSPA awards

  • Mitie has been awarded four Gold Medals by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the strong health and safety performance of its Cleaning, Security, Waste and Landscaping businesses
  • Mitie has also been awarded the RoSPA President’s Award for receiving 10 consecutive Gold Awards for its performance on the Cumbria Consortium contract
  • The accreditation builds on Mitie’s strong quality, health, safety, and environment (QHSE) credentials

Mitie has won four Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Medal awards for its high standards of health and safety performance during 2022 for its Cleaning, Security, Waste, and Landscaping businesses.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. The programme recognises organisations’ commitment to continuous improvement in the prevention of accidents and ill health at work, looking at entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. Now into its 67th year, the Awards have almost 2,000 entries every year, covering nearly 50 countries.

Mitie has also been awarded RoSPA’s President’s Award for its health and safety performance on the Cumbria Consortium contract at Sellafield nuclear site, where it delivers integrated facilities management services. The President’s Award is given to organisations who have achieved a Gold Award for 10 consecutive years and highlights Mitie’s longstanding commitment to QHSE, which is even more important at highly regulated sites, such as those in critical infrastructure.

The Awards are a reflection of Mitie’s continuous commitment to creating safe and secure work environments, with its Cleaning and Security businesses receiving RoSPA Golds for five years running. This accreditation is a result of Mitie’s LiveSafe programme, a QHSE initiative that includes training and workshops to highlight the importance of workplace safety to colleagues, which has created a culture that constantly drives high standards of QHSE performance across the business.

Peter Dickinson, Chief of Staff and General Counsel, Mitie, said:

“As a leading British employer, the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues is our top priority, and we are devoted to ensuring a safe and positive work environment for all our people. Having received four Golds across our business and the President’s Award for our work at Sellafield, this recognition from RoSPA is testament to our commitment to embed QHSE into the fabric of our business.”
