Mitie links with Connect Group to win new contract worth £7.5 million

  • Long term, integrated FM contract across the UK
  • Mitie will replace over 100 separate suppliers with one dedicated team

Mitie has won a five-year contract with specialist distribution and logistics company Connect Group following a competitive tender process. Through an integrated facilities management contract, Mitie will manage a host of services including engineering, cleaning, security, reception and landscaping across 78 distribution centres and its headquarters in Swindon, Wiltshire.

The new relationship will bring all Connect Group’s FM services together, replacing the existing local level arrangements. Connect Group, which operates under the brands Smiths News and Tuffnells, chose to consolidate their supplier relationships with Mitie to simplify their working practices and to achieve cost savings.

Mitie will deploy new technology as part of the contract. Its Direct Audits system will further enhance the delivery of engineering service. Designed to keep a close check on the condition of assets, it also enables easy day to day monitoring, as well as supporting long term investment decisions.

Connect Group will also be taking advantage of Mitie’s remote security centre MiTec, to ensure its properties’ security systems are overseen 24/7. Operating from Northern Ireland, MiTec offers a comprehensive intruder and fire alarm monitoring service that will ensure Connect Group’s distribution facilities are safe and secure.

Carlo Alloni, Managing Director, Mitie Engineering, said:

“We are delighted to announce this new relationship with Connect Group. We look forward to supporting the team with a much simpler and efficient system for all their facilities management needs enhanced by our new technology and market-leading security services.”

James Church from Connect Group, said:

“We are very pleased to have signed a contract with Mitie to provide us with a comprehensive list of services. We’re really looking forward to working together and introducing simpler and more consistent processes.”
