Vodafone team, overall winners 2016

Our Grand Final overall winners for Stars 2016 were the amazing Vodafone team.

The Leeds-based team sacrificed Boxing Day festivities and time with their loved ones to go to site to clear up following severe flooding across the North East. The contaminated flood water at the Vodafone site caused a total systems failure affecting thousands of Vodafone customers. The team cleared the site, managing to get the network system up and running within just 48 hours, and not the anticipated seven to ten days.

Our Grand Final overall winners for Stars 2015 were the amazing Complete Care team, also the category winners for Best Team. They showed great dedication and perseverance to do their very best for one of their clients in exceptional circumstances. The team will be using their grand prize for home improvements for a fresh start to 2016. Pam Knox explained: “It’s fantastic, we’re over the moon! The prize money will make such a big difference to our lives.” Iris Sankey was equally pleased: “It was a night I will never forget and I can’t thank Mitie enough – it’s really wonderful to have your work recognised in this way.”

Fraser Davison from IFM was truly outstanding when he rescued a family after their car rolled 50 feet into a loch in Scotland. Despite his heroic actions he was not expecting his win: “It was very surprising to win the outstanding act category as the other nominees had done some amazing things so to be announced as winner came as a bit of a shock (a nice shock though!) It’s been a great experience to get all the way through to the final.”

Congratulations to Bill Lewis – as a Pest Control Technician for a mental health facility he was instrumental in avoiding a gas explosion at the client’s site, potentially saving the lives of many vulnerable people. His manager Peter Trotman spoke proudly of his actions but Bill was still surprised when he won: “When I was announced as the winner I was so shocked. It was nerve racking sitting there and I did not expect to win. I was so shocked but in a nice way. I’m really grateful and really happy with Mitie and the Stars final. I had a great night!”

Rolls-Royce Hucknall team, Overall winner 2014

When flood waters hit their site, this IFM team, which consists of members of our Security, Cleaning, Waste and Engineering businesses, came together as one to make their site fully operational within just 12 hours. Operating throughout the night, with many team members working outside their normal shift patterns, this team harnessed their expertise to prevent what could otherwise have had a significant impact on their client’s business. Their commitment and united approach was even recognised by the Chief Operating Officer of Rolls-Royce Worldwide, who sent them a special note of gratitude for their hard work and initiative.
