Mitie’s 2024 ESG report reveals significant progress

Mitie’s latest ESG report reveals it has met or exceeded 13 of its targets for the last Financial Year (FY24), showing exceptional commitment to sustainability and social value. Contributing to its pledge to reach net zero by 2025, Mitie cut its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 5% and has now switched 66% of its vehicle fleet to electric. Mitie also supported over 1,200 apprentices and volunteered almost 25,000 hours to local causes through FY24.

Mitie’s 2025 ESG report showcases bold progress on social impact

Mitie’s latest ESG report reveals it has met or exceeded key targets for the last Financial Year (FY25), demonstrating strong leadership in environmental performance, inclusive employment, and responsible supply chain practice. As part of its Plan Zero commitment, Mitie reduced its net Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 22% and now operates over 6,000 electric vehicles – 74% of its UK fleet. Mitie also delivered over 32,000 volunteering hours and supported more than 1,500 apprentices across 90+ programmes during FY25.

Mitie invests in future UK talent donating £2 million in Apprenticeship Levy gifting pledges

Mitie has pledged £2 million in Apprenticeship Levy gifting funds, supporting a range of organisations across the UK to develop future talent. With a targeted approach to gifting, since 2021 Mitie has been supporting local communities, groups with barriers to employment, and smaller organisations in the industries it works in. Mitie’s most recent collaboration is with the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership to support apprenticeship schemes for women in STEM roles.

Mitie secures five-year extension of Co-op partnership

Mitie has extended its security partnership with the Co-op for a further five years, providing security and maintenance services to more than 2,300 stores, plus Co-op’s 800 funeral care homes. Co-op has seen a reduction in overall retail crime in its stores UK-wide, including lower levels of anti-social behaviour and abuse towards store workers. The new agreement builds on the successful partnership and also sees specialist security officers deployed, including new dedicated response officer roles created to support stores with localised issues and keep high streets and communities safer.

Mitie and Elements Green break ground at Staythorpe BESS

Mitie Power & Grid, working with international renewable energy developer Elements Green, has begun construction on the Staythorpe Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) – one of the largest in Europe. The £71.5 million project will create around 60 jobs during the build phase, deliver a 25.7% Biodiversity Net Gain, and ensure collaboration with local residents. Once complete in 2027, the 360MW/720MWh facility will store enough renewable energy to power over 95,000 homes for a full day, strengthening UK energy resilience and accelerating the transition to net zero.
