Mitie dives under the surface of Facilities Transformation with the launch of its new podcast

Mitie has launched its new podcast series ‘The Science of Service Podcast: Facilities Transformation’. Over six episodes, listeners will get unique insight into the future of the facilities management industry, hearing from industry experts and leading voices from Mitie and its customers, including Royal London and Eurostar International. The first of the six episodes is available now, with subsequent episodes released fortnightly on all major podcast platforms.

Mitie strengthens Thales UK partnership with contract extension

Mitie has secured a seven-year contract extension, worth £17 million per year, with Thales in the UK, part of the global technology group with markets in the defence and security, aerospace and space, digital identity and security. The contract will see Mitie deliver integrated facilities management services, including energy management, cleaning, landscaping and security across 16 Thales sites across the UK, including its Reading headquarters. Bringing its technology-led approach to facilities transformation, Mitie will install over 4,000 new sensors across the Thales estate to reduce the downtime and energy use of critical building systems, like heating and ventilation.

Mitie secures new contract with HMRC

Mitie has secured a new five-year contract, with the option to extend up to a total of ten years, with His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to provide security services across its nationwide estate. The contract, valued at approximately £15 million a year, will see Mitie continue to support HMRC’s ten-year transformation programme by enhancing its security intelligence offering and introducing a new digital risk management tool. Mitie has committed to taking on 75 apprentices, part of its pledge for 5% of its workforce in earn and learn positions as a member of the 5% Club.

Mitie welcomes new learners on Security Level 2 Apprenticeship

Mitie confirms a cohort of 30 learners are set to enrol on the Professional Security Operative (PSO) Level 2 Apprenticeship which was launched today. The new apprenticeship standard will offer specialised training and development opportunities for people in the early stages of their security career. Mitie has welcomed applications from colleagues from all walks of life, including colleagues already working in the industry as well as newcomers from other areas of the business.

Mitie wins contract to provide security to the DWP estate

Mitie has been appointed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to provide the largest security workforce within the Government estate, alongside building and operating a 24/7 Security Control Centre. The Security Guarding contract is valued at £136m per year over the 7-year initial term alongside a £3m per year Security Control Centre contract, initially running for a term of 5 years. Mitie will use DWP’s strategic risk-based deployment model providing a physical security presence at Jobcentres and other DWP buildings to enable a safe environment and deter violence, complemented by 24/7 remote monitoring.
