The accreditation demonstrates Mitie’s commitment to maintaining an ethical, sustainable and professionally-managed supply chain. Mitie recognised as UK Top Employer for eighth consecutive year
Top Employers Institute has certified Mitie as a UK Top Employer for its commitment to supporting its colleagues through best practice. Areas of excellence called out by the Top Employers Institute include Mitie’s Health Focused Programmes, Colleague Recognition Schemes, Financial Benefits, and approaches to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI). The announcement builds on Mitie’s recent award wins, including accreditation with the Good Business Charter, Ambassador Level Status on the SRAG Chartermark and as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer and Top 50 UK Inclusive Employer.

Mitie embarks on a new journey with South Western Railway
New three-year contract with South Western Railway (SWR) covering engineering maintenance and repairs for over 200 stations and a further ten train depots from Waterloo to Weymouth. Sustainability will play a central role throughout the contract, with Mitie deploying its Plan Zero experts to identify and deliver carbon cutting initiatives. As well as building on its existing intelligence-led security contract with SWR, this contract demonstrates further growth for Mitie’s rail transport business, which counts over ten train operating companies as customers.

Mitie exceeds electric vehicle target with milestone EV delivery
Mitie has delivered its 750th electric vehicle (EV) – racing past its 20% by 2020 target, three months ahead of schedule. The Plan Zero commitment will see Mitie switch the rest of its fleet to zero emission vehicles by 2025. Mitie will share its expertise and support more businesses in switching with its Plan Zero Fleet Transition Service.

Mitie to put University of Essex on course to reach net zero goals
Mitie is supporting the University of Essex to reach its net zero goals with a new decarbonisation consulting contract. With a series of audits across three campuses and innovative data-led forecasting, Mitie will set out how the University can reach net zero Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 2035. Mitie’s Plan Zero consultants will use 3D digital modelling software to understand how buildings will respond to different low and zero Carbon solutions.

Mitie is supporting The Buy Social Corporate Challenge as part of a group of 30 major UK businesses which have spent a landmark £250 million procuring services and products from social enterprises. New figures reveal the challenge has already helped to create 2,700 jobs in an ongoing programme from Social Enterprise UK.

Mitie secures new IFM contract with London South Bank University Group
Mitie has been awarded a contract with London South Bank University (LSBU) Group to deliver integrated facilities management services for five years, with the option to extend for a further two. Delivering services across LSBU and South Bank College’s estates, this is the first time that all FM services across the university group will be brought together under one provider. Mitie’s social value approach will be key to the contract, including introducing apprentices and work placement opportunities for local residents.

Mitie welcomes 41 new apprentices to its Apprenticeship Programme
Mitie has welcomed 41 new apprentices to its Technical Services Apprenticeship Programme as part of its efforts to attract and develop the next generation of engineers. In addition to 18 other apprentices which joined earlier in the year, this new intake takes Mitie past its target of 50 new Technical Services apprentices in 2021. The Apprenticeship Programme, which is part of Mitie’s Technical Services Academy, is an initiative that supports Mitie’s offer of learning and development opportunities for employees at every stage in their career.
