This strategic move broadens Mitie’s service offering for both existing and new customers across private and public sectors, particularly in health, education, local authority and industrial sectors. It will also significantly strengthen Mitie’s in-house delivery of low-carbon energy solutions, enabling it to support clients, as they retrofit, or install new heat systems, reinforcing its role in driving the UK’s energy transition.

Industry turns its focus to decarbonising heat

With heating accounting for a significant portion of the UK’s emissions, the government’s industrial strategy has recently turned its focus to heat decarbonisation, offering nearly £4bn in funding schemes. With a 56% increase in the number of heat pumps installed in 2024, it’s a market already worth £1.1bn – and that’s set to grow.

If the UK is to achieve Net Zero by 2050, heat needs to be a priority. But few organisations have successfully switched to low-carbon alternatives – just 10% of NHS Trusts, for example. Adding RMS to our energy and decarbonisation team means our customers can take practical, meaningful steps towards their own Net Zero targets with unrivalled expertise at their side.
