Mitie provides facilities and services that prioritise rehabilitation in decent, sustainable custodial settings. Our services include custody suite support, transportation and specialist assessments and referrals. This helps police forces operate efficiently and to maintain safe custody environments.

Mitie delivers services designed to encourage a positive change in attitude, thinking and behaviour, all within supportive, structured environments. Interventions focus on addressing the circumstances that led each person to offend, with the aim of reducing the probability of re-offending. Our teams are focused on helping individuals settle into their new environment, as well as safeguarding welfare, reducing risk and ultimately protecting the wider community through breaking the cycle of crime.

We operate in a high-risk, high-profile and heavily regulated environment, engaging with numerous stakeholders including the Home Office. Our role is to ensure individuals understand what will happen next, and to provide an environment where they can engage in meaningful activities, access support and build positive relationships. We create settings where positive behaviour is encouraged and reinforced, helping to secure the safety, welfare and dignity of both the individual and our dedicated colleagues.

HMP Millsike is a category C resettlement prison in Yorkshire, with capacity to accommodate 1,468 men. Mitie was awarded the contract to provide HMP Millsike’s custodial services in 2025.

Mitie’s ‘One Millsike’ vision puts rehabilitation at the heart of delivery to support long-term change in the lives of prisoners.
