Mitie has secured a seven-year contract extension with Thales UK, part of the global technology group with markets in the defence and security, aerospace and space, digital identity and security.
Building on its existing ten-year partnership, the new contract, worth £17 million per year, will see Mitie provide integrated facilities management services, including energy management, cleaning, security, landscaping, catering and waste management at 16 Thales sites across the UK and Ireland, including its headquarters in Reading.
Bringing its technology-led approach to facilities transformation, Mitie will install over 4,000 sensors across the Thales UK estate. By remotely monitoring occupancy data and usage of building equipment, such as heating and ventilation systems and lighting, Mitie’s experienced analysts will be able to identify opportunities to reduce energy use in line with demand. Monitoring real-time data on the performance of building equipment will also enable Mitie’s expert engineers to detect maintenance requirements before issues arise, preventing downtime and ensuring the smooth running of building systems across the estate.
Dan Guest, Managing Director, Technical Services, MitieWe’re proud to support Thales – a key supplier to some of the UK’s most critical industries. This contract extension is testament to the strong partnership we’ve built with Thales over the past ten years. We look forward to bringing even more innovative technology to the contract to generate valuable insights on building performance, while at the same time driving efficiencies.
Russell Norton, UK Real Estate Director, Thales UKMitie remain a key strategic partner and this new contract is the result of a lot of hard work in not only identifying what we, Thales, want but also utilising the range of digital services Mitie can offer. It will support a move to a new “digital FM platform” that is focused on the key operations of the business across the UK.
