Plan Thrive
Plan Thrive is our commitment to creating lasting and meaningful social value. It’s about creating pathways for sustainable futures – uplifting lives, strengthening communities and building a positive legacy for the people and places we serve.
Creating better places and thriving communities is at the heart of everything we do. But for communities to thrive, people must thrive too. That’s why we work every day to deliver social impact in meaningful ways. Watch the video to find out more.
Over the next three years, we pledge to:
We’ll support social mobility, skills and employment, inclusion and wellbeing.
By delivering activities that enhance the spaces and places we work in, we’ll bring positive change to communities, colleagues and the environment.
in partnerships and our supply chain to deliver sustainable impact. We’ll strengthen our procurement practices and amplify impact through capacity building and collaboration.
We’ll share our progress using tools like Thrive Platform to inspire others, improve our practices and ensure accountability.
Helping clients, colleagues and communities thrive
Through our clear five-step process, built on our Theory of Change methodology, we’re committed to delivering positive outcomes.
Understanding local needs
As the UK’s leading facilities management company, we know a thing or two about what makes places thrive. The first step is listening to the needs of the communities we serve. Using their insights, alongside feedback from our colleagues, customers, social value partners and place-based data, we identify opportunities to solve social challenges and create positive impact.

Transformative local impact and engagement
Armed with local knowledge, we design initiatives that align with the goals of our customers, stakeholders and communities. From employability support and sustainable careers to environmental improvements, every initiative is rooted in meaningful transformation. Since 2020, the Mitie Foundation has dedicated almost 100,000 volunteering hours to local communities and environmental or charity projects like Macmillan coffee mornings.

Inclusive recruitment
At Mitie, we believe everyone can thrive with the right support. Plan Thrive creates pathways for sustainable futures – breaking down barriers to opportunity. Through the Mitie Foundation, our Engineering Graduate Scheme and our Early Careers programme, we’re building on what works, and also implementing new hiring models to overcome barriers to employment.

Empowering people into work
Our flagship Ready2Work programme has delivered support in over 60 locations to assist disadvantaged groups with the transition into work. This includes ex-offenders, care leavers, homeless people, veterans, long-term unemployed and those with disabilities. We provide apprenticeships and learning schemes to help people from all backgrounds find employment, close skills gaps and prepare for the future.

Sustainable careers
Finding a job is just the first step. We make sure our colleagues are supported, upskilled and set up to succeed. We do so through an inclusive culture that champions wellbeing. Our award-winning learning and development, strong career pathways and standout employee value proposition helps colleagues to grow and thrive so their communities benefit too.
