Mitie has welcomed 60 new apprentices as part of its #SignupSkillup programme. The new colleagues are all in the early stages of their working lives, kicking off a career in facilities management with an apprenticeship, and are based throughout the UK, from Plymouth to Glasgow.

The new recruits have joined a range of teams across the business and cover a broad variety of roles, including electrical and building services, project management, quantity surveying, business administration, and customer service. They all joined as part of Mitie’s #SignupSkillup apprenticeship programme, which is focused on attracting the next generation of talent to fill future skills gaps and provide learners with their first step into a career in the FM industry.

As a recognised Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer, Mitie is committed to supporting its colleagues’ development and attracting new talent through apprenticeships. The business recently joined the 5% Club, a group of organisations dedicated to achieving 5% of their workforce in earn and learn positions, such as apprentices and training schemes.

Mitie also provides all of its apprentices with membership to the Association of Apprentices (AoA), a national organisation that helps apprentices to connect, learn, and fulfil their potential. As members of the AoA, learners have opportunities to communicate and connect with fellow members, build their professional networks, access guidance and career advice, as well as access support with life skills, mental health, and developing ‘soft skills’ such as teamwork, time management, and problem solving.

The 60 new recruits join the 1,100 apprentices already in Mitie’s business, including a number of learners in Mitie Security who joined the recently launched Professional Security Operative (PSO) Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Kate Large, Director of Learning and Development, Mitie, said:

“We’re delighted to be welcoming this talented group of 60 apprentices to the Mitie family. Our #SignupSkillup apprenticeship programme doesn’t just create jobs, it ignites careers and creates opportunities for those taking their first steps into today’s world of work. As a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer and member of the 5% club, we’re committed to continue expanding our apprenticeship programmes and nurturing the talent of the future.”
