Mitie’s apprenticeship credentials earn membership to The 5% Club

  • Mitie has been named as a member of The 5% Club, a collection of organisations committed to providing “earn and learn” opportunities
  • The appointment comes as a result of Mitie’s consistent commitment to apprenticeships throughout its business, with over 1,100 apprentices working at Mitie at any one time
  • The membership builds on Mitie’s existing accolades in the area, including being listed as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer

Mitie has been appointed as a member of The 5% Club, a group of organisations devoted to achieving 5% of their workforce in earn and learn positions, such as apprentices, graduates on training schemes, sponsored students, and interns. Mitie’s addition to The 5% Club comes as a result of its continuous commitment to apprenticeship programmes.

Bringing together a group of organisations devoted to apprenticeships and other “earn and learn” schemes, which enable people from all backgrounds to train and reskill, The Club exists to help its members and all employers increase the number, quality, and range of apprenticeship opportunities across the UK. This is part of building and developing workforces able to plug skill gaps and drive economic growth.

Becoming a member of The 5% Club reinforces Mitie’s position as a leading apprenticeship provider, as it continues to champion earn and learn schemes throughout its business and across the wider industry.

As a leading British employer, Mitie is committed to supporting its colleagues’ development and attracting new talent through apprenticeships. There are over 1,100 apprentices working within Mitie at any one time. It also offers over 80 different apprenticeship programmes across its business, from technical roles such as engineering, electrical and maintenance, to business functions like HR, business administration and finance.

Since 2019 Mitie has reinvested £9.8m in apprenticeship programmes and is passionate about using apprenticeships to plug future skill gaps. For example, Mitie engineer apprentices are training in specialist areas needed for the future, such as learning to install heat pumps. Mitie is also listed in the top 80 of the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, the highest ranked business in the facilities management industry.

Jasmine Hudson, Chief People Officer, Mitie, said:

“Becoming a member of The 5% Club is a fantastic achievement which recognises and celebrates the excellent work we are doing as a leading apprenticeship employer. By joining The Club, we will be in esteemed company with like-minded organisations committed to developing their people through earn and learn schemes.”
