Case study 8 April 2020 COVID-19: Network Rail – helping key workers get to work Our Mitie team is supporting Network Rail in ensuring the UK’s railways continue to operate in these unprecedented circumstances – helping key workers across the country get to their place of work. This includes providing integrated facilities management services to circa 150 sites across the country, including Route Operating Centres and Signalling Centres, designated as critical infrastructure and essential to the safe operation of the UK railway network. Focussing on touchpoints As part of our agile response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we immediately amended Stand Operating Procedures for cleaning processes, directing operatives to focus on sanitising touch points, such as door handles, toilet flushes, lift buttons, bannisters and push pads, to minimise the risk of spreading the virus. ‘Confirmed COVID-19’ and ‘Cause for Concern’ cleaning In partnership with Network Rail, the team developed a specific ‘COVID-19’ clean that is deployed when a COVID-19 case is confirmed and a ‘Cause for Concern’ rapid response cleaning process, that is deployed if a COVID-19 case is suspected. This enhanced clean involves an anti-viral, anti-bacterial solution being sprayed in potentially infected areas to keep bacteria and viruses at bay. A collaborative approach Mitie’s partnership with Network Rail started in 2014. During this time, a strong relationship based on teamwork has been established. This collaborative approach has been fundamental in ensuring a safe, swift and effective response to these unprecedented challenges. Network Rail owns, operates and develops Britain’s railway infrastructure – 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and the thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. As well as managing 20 of the UK’s largest stations.Mitie’s IFM delivery for Network Rail includes Engineering, Cleaning, Security and Mechanical services. _ Learn more about Integrated Facilities Management > _ Get in touch If you would like more information about Mitie’s Critical Infrastructure Services, please contact us using this form – a member of the Mitie team will contact you as soon as possible.
