Mitie stays on track with Eurostar extension

Mitie has renewed its security contract with Eurostar for an additional three years, with the option to extend for a further two years. Mitie will continue to provide services including passenger security for arrivals and departures, train searches, manning e-gates, CCTV monitoring and access control to restricted zones. The contract renewal continues the partnership between Mitie Security and Eurostar, with Mitie having provided services for the past 14 years.

Mitie is using solar to help Essex schools cut their carbon

Mitie has supported Essex County Council with the installation of roof mounted solar panels at 15 schools across the county. The panels will generate 700,000 kWh of energy, equivalent to powering 185 homes a year, saving 180 tonnes of CO2 and around £115,000 annually. A further 28 school sites and council buildings will also have solar panels installed over the next 3 months, saving an additional 220 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Mitie marks one year of Plan Zero with new sustainability pledges

Mitie has marked the first anniversary of Plan Zero with new sustainability pledges for its fleet, energy use and waste in 2021. Mitie has also committed to setting science-based targets with the science-based targets initiative and has pledged to reach net-zero for its Scope 3 emissions – suppliers, employee commuting and working from home – by 2035. New sustainable solutions, such as energy saving robot vacuums, will be trialled in Mitie sites in 2021.

Transport for London awards new cleaning contract to Mitie

New five-year contract will cover the cleaning of trains, Tube and bus stations as well as TfL head office buildings, the London Transport Museum and waste collection at City Hall. Contract will also incorporate waste management and pest control across the TfL network and include a 24/7 dedicated team to address ongoing challenges TfL faces with graffiti across its fleet. TfL will work with Mitie on a comprehensive pilot requested by the Mayor to understand how it could deliver cleaning in-house in the future.

Mitie celebrates its third year as a Gold Award recipient on the government’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, highlighting its longstanding commitment to the Armed Forces community. The Gold Award recognises Mitie’s continued support for the community through its different recruitment programmes, charity initiatives, and career support for ex-military colleagues.
