Mitie secures IFM contract with the Intellectual Property Office
Mitie has secured a new £12 million three-year contract with the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to provide integrated facilities management services across its two sites in Newport, Wales. Mitie will bring new technology, innovation and efficiencies to the IPO’s estate and is committed to helping the IPO meet its net zero goals. Mitie is also supporting the Newport region through social value initiatives like ‘spring cleans’, hosting careers fairs at local schools and increasing recruitment from the local community into apprenticeships in FM.

More than a third (36%) of UK businesses currently have a strategy to achieve net zero carbon or plan to make one. On average, these businesses expect to reach net zero carbon by 2029. However, nearly half (47%) of these companies don’t have a plan in place to achieve net zero by their target date.

Mitie to deliver 250 new EV charging points across sites for the DWP
Mitie has secured a new contract to install electric vehicle (EV) charge points for the Department for Work and Pensions. The £4.3 million contract will see Mitie design, install and maintain around 250 EO EV charging points at more than 120 job centres. Mitie continues to work with DWP across a range of areas to deliver its wider net zero ambitions.

Mitie strengthens Asda’s security for safer shopping
Mitie has won a new security contract with Asda to provide protection across over 1,100 stores nationwide including its Superstores, Supermarkets, Living and Express stores. Mitie will help Asda to advance its data-led, intelligent security offering to create safer stores for both customers and colleagues. 67 electric vehicles (EVs) will be integrated into security operations as part of the contract, supporting Asda’s sustainability ambitions.

Mitie achieves 30% EV target, three months ahead of schedule
Mitie has achieved its target of converting 30% of its fleet to electric vehicles by March 2022 – three months ahead of schedule. With cars, vans, and even gritters, Mitie now has more than 2,000 pure electric vehicles on the road. These vehicles create an annual saving of around 10,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
