Mitie has acquired Biotecture, a leading specialist in designing, building and maintaining ‘living walls’ for interior and exterior urban landscapes. The acquisition expands Mitie’s services to include vertical landscaping, alongside its traditional services. The addition of Biotecture supports Mitie’s commitment to be the greenest landscaping provider and support its customers in achieving their sustainability ambition.

Mitie marks 5,000 electric vehicles milestone

Mitie has welcomed its 5,000th electric vehicle (EV), equating to two-thirds (66%) of its fleet. The vehicle was unveiled at its Shard headquarters, and will be used by mobile engineers working across Mitie’s government contracts in London. Mitie is at the forefront of the UK’s sustainable transport shift, as one of only a handful of British businesses to reach this landmark.

Mitie supports Yorkshire Ambulance Service with new contract

Mitie has secured a new contract to deliver engineering services for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS). The new business is worth £6 million across five years, with the option to extend for a further two. Mitie is delivering maintenance and engineering services for 100 sites across the entire Yorkshire region.

Mitie named Most Admired Company in the Support Services sector

Mitie has been named the most admired Support Services Company at the 2024 Britain’s Most Admired Companies awards. Mitie’s CEO, Phil Bentley, joined other British business leaders on the panel at the prestigious awards event at the London Stock Exchange. Mitie also ranked fourth overall as well as being awarded Silver Certificates for leadership in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Effective Use of Corporate Assets, and Bronze for Positive Contribution to Society.

Mitie hits annual ESG targets putting it on track to meet 2025 goals

2022 ESG report released detailing how Mitie hit all 13 ESG targets for the year, putting Mitie on track to meet its overall 2025 ESG goals. Environmental highlights include saving customers 375,000 tonnes of carbon across 800 sites and cutting 11,000 tonnes of CO2 by expanding EVs to more than a third of the Mitie fleet. Procurement team ensures 50% more diverse suppliers, with VCSE spend doubled to reduce inequality in the supply chain. 1,000 apprentices now employed across 60 programmes to drive social mobility.

Mitie crowned ‘Green Fleet of the Year’

Mitie has been named the ‘Green Fleet of the Year’ at the Business Car Awards 2020. The award was given in recognition of Mitie’s UK-leading electric vehicle (EV) fleet transition, with nearly 800 EVs already in its fleet. As part of its Plan Zero commitment, Mitie will switch the rest of its 5,500 strong fleet to zero emission vehicles by 2025.
