Mitie gears up for new £50m contract with Halfords Group
Mitie has been awarded a new £50 million contract for five years with cycling and motoring retailer, Halfords Group, to provide engineering maintenance services. Mitie will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of building equipment including heating and ventilation systems, lighting, fire alarm systems and boilers at over 950 Halfords Group sites across the UK and Ireland. Mitie will take a technology-led approach, with Halfords Group colleagues able to report maintenance requirements through Mitie’s Aria app and site managers gaining full oversight of jobs through Mitie’s Mozaic software.

Mitie has renewed its Security and Emergency Response Services contract with Westinghouse Springfields Fuels Ltd building on a decade-long partnership. Mitie will continue to provide key security and emergency services including security personnel, visitor authorisation, fire and emergency response, and intelligence reporting. Mitie, Zestec and Merlin Entertainments to deliver solar carport
Custom Solar, part of Mitie, and Zestec have partnered with Merlin Entertainments to deliver a 1.2MW solar carport at LEGOLAND® Windsor, producing over 1.1m kWh of clean power annually and cutting over 190 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. The solar carport now supplies onsite renewable electricity directly to the resort and improves guest experience with shaded parking. The project demonstrates Custom Solar’s ability to deliver large scale, on site renewable infrastructure, reducing grid reliance and supporting lower carbon, more resilient operations in visitor environments.

Research highlights how neglected workspaces fuel job dissatisfaction as employees call for better designed offices. The majority prefer purpose-built workspaces which support their performance with almost nine in ten (88%) stating a well-maintained office is key to satisfaction.

Mitie’s ESG status upgraded by Sustainalytics
Mitie has been awarded the best ranking possible, a ‘negligible risk’ score, by leading ESG rating agency, Sustainalytics. With a score of 9.8, Mitie is now ranked in the top 2% of businesses globally and first in the Business Support Services industry. The rating marks the third time in two months that Mitie has been upgraded by an ESG ratings agency.

Mitie kicks off facilities management contract with Swansea University
Mitie has kicked off a new five-year contract to deliver facilities management services – including cleaning, waste management and grounds maintenance – for Swansea University. The contract, which has the option to extend for up to four more years, is worth £2.4 million a year and will see Mitie deliver services for all of the University’s buildings. Using its sustainability and waste management expertise, Mitie has committed to only using cleaning products with reduced packaging as well as helping Swansea University cut waste across all of its sites.
