Turning Blue Monday Green: Residents want more greenery in UK cities

This Blue Monday, two thirds (66%) of city dwellers have said they want to see more greenery where they live, work and socialise. More than half (57%) would welcome more vertical green living walls to make up for a lack of ground space. A similar number (51%) think there is currently not enough investment in urban greening.

Mitie marks one year of Plan Zero with new sustainability pledges

Mitie has marked the first anniversary of Plan Zero with new sustainability pledges for its fleet, energy use and waste in 2021. Mitie has also committed to setting science-based targets with the science-based targets initiative and has pledged to reach net-zero for its Scope 3 emissions – suppliers, employee commuting and working from home – by 2035. New sustainable solutions, such as energy saving robot vacuums, will be trialled in Mitie sites in 2021.

Mitie and SDCL help customers fund and deliver sustainable projects

Mitie and Sustainable Development Capital LLP (SDCL) have launched a new partnership to support organisations wanting to roll out large-scale decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects for their estates, but are faced with significant upfront investment. Mitie will use its engineering and energy management expertise to help customers design and manage their sustainability projects from end to end. SDCL will seek to provide the capital to fund these projects and make them available for use by customers, with fees linked to an energy services contract.
