Mitie appointed as supplier to Government FM and workplace framework
Mitie has been appointed as a supplier on the Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) new RM6232 framework to provide facilities management and workplace services. This appointment gives Mitie access to bid on contracts across all government departments and public sector organisations over the next four years. The framework covers a full range of facilities management and workplace services, from waste management, cleaning and maintenance, to facilities management and security.

Shoppers concerned about Covid safety as they return to the shops
Most Brits are still nervous about heading to the high street, with 73% worried about visiting shops and cafés without visible Covid-19 measures in place. More than half (53%) of adults say they will only go into shops with visible Covid measures in place, such as air ventilation, UV technology and increased cleaning regimes. Consumers will spend around half an hour longer in stores and cafes with measures in place.

Mitie crowns colleague stars of 2024
Mitie has held its 2024 Recognition Awards event, celebrating its colleagues’ diverse range of incredible achievements over the past year. The event recognised the winners of its 2024 Mitie Stars awards, some of its longest serving colleagues, its class of distinction achieving Level 7 Leadership apprentices, its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) network leads, and top Apprentices of the year winners. Special guests Franceschina (Frankie) Romano and June Bearcroft, who are still working for Mitie at 92 and 89 years of age, also joined the celebrations.

Mitie extends FM partnership with North Cumbria Care NHS Trust
Mitie has extended its 26-year Facilities Management partnership with North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC), delivering critical services including cleaning, maintenance, security, patient catering, and portering services. The contract will see a further rollout of Mitie’s smart portering service to support day-to-day tasks, including delivering key equipment and waste management. Mitie will provide engineering apprenticeship opportunities over the year and dedicate up to 1,000 volunteering hours to support the local community and healthcare charities.

Mitie welcomes 41 new apprentices to its Apprenticeship Programme
Mitie has welcomed 41 new apprentices to its Technical Services Apprenticeship Programme as part of its efforts to attract and develop the next generation of engineers. In addition to 18 other apprentices which joined earlier in the year, this new intake takes Mitie past its target of 50 new Technical Services apprentices in 2021. The Apprenticeship Programme, which is part of Mitie’s Technical Services Academy, is an initiative that supports Mitie’s offer of learning and development opportunities for employees at every stage in their career.

Mitie to kick start careers for 50 technical apprentices
Mitie has launched a new Apprenticeship Programme for its Technical Services business to attract and develop the next generation of talent. The programme will support 50 new Technical Apprentices in 2021, with 16 having already joined the business. The apprenticeship programme is part of the Mitie Technical Services Academy, an initiative to offer learning and development opportunities for employees at every stage of their career.

Mitie takes home Gold with Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Award
Mitie has achieved the Gold Award on the government’s Defence Employer Recognition scheme, in acknowledgment of its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. Builds on Mitie’s Silver Award received just one year ago. The Gold Award demonstrates Mitie’s support for the community, including ten additional days paid leave for Military Reservists and the introduction of mentoring and career transition guidance for military personnel moving to civilian life.
