Mitie acquires connection provider Rock Power Connections Ltd

Mitie has acquired Rock Power Connections Limited, an Independent Connection Provider, specialising in the design and installation of new high voltage electricity supplies, the renewal of electrical assets up to 132kV and electric vehicle (EV) charge points. The acquisition significantly enhances Mitie’s existing EV capabilities having already installed several thousand charge points. The acquisition of Rock complements Mitie current technical services strengths and will give Mitie distinctive high voltage capabilities and Independent Connection Provider status, supporting its delivery of green projects and enabling it to address the energy total cost of ownership of new and existing clients.

Mitie enhances security operations at Sellafield with new contract

Mitie has secured a new five‑year contract to continue delivering critical security services at Sellafield, Europe’s largest nuclear facility. By providing a dedicated Intelligence Analyst within Mitie’s national intelligence centre, the contract will enhance data sharing among key stakeholders, on site and throughout the UK’s nuclear estate. A new Nuclear Security Centre of Excellence will be established to set consistent national standards for nuclear security in terms of recruitment and training.

Legislation lethargy hits UK organisations as volume and intensity of sustainability reporting increases

Wave of sustainability stress as almost two in five (38%) sustainability decision makers admit to not being clear about what they need to report on with almost half (46%) now reporting to at least three different ESG frameworks as confusion about the legislation labyrinth builds. Over a quarter (28%) say they are not sure they are equipped to comply if legislation becomes stricter and three fifths (60%) are worried about the impact on both their reputation and company finances if their reporting is found to be insufficient. Just 13% believe the current approach to reporting works, yet the majority are not in favour of a shift to sector specific reporting frameworks or a move to one single UK and EU-wide standard.

Mitie has been named the winner in three categories at the Retail Fraud Awards, including ‘Most Innovative Retail Risk Management Solutions’, ‘Best Collaborative Retail Risk’ and ‘Risk Management Rising Star of the Year’. Mitie has supported Essex County Council with the installation of roof mounted solar panels at 15 schools across the county. The panels will generate 700,000 kWh of energy, equivalent to powering 185 homes a year, saving 180 tonnes of CO2 and around £115,000 annually. A further 28 school sites and council buildings will also have solar panels installed over the next 3 months, saving an additional 220 tonnes of CO2 a year.
