Mitie to deliver 250 new EV charging points across sites for the DWP
Mitie has secured a new contract to install electric vehicle (EV) charge points for the Department for Work and Pensions. The £4.3 million contract will see Mitie design, install and maintain around 250 EO EV charging points at more than 120 job centres. Mitie continues to work with DWP across a range of areas to deliver its wider net zero ambitions.

Mitie launches the Cleaning and Hygiene Centre of Excellence
Mitie has launched its new Cleaning and Hygiene Centre of Excellence, to showcase the latest innovation in cleaning science and technology. Made up of six Zones, the new Centre in Birmingham demonstrates best practice in the sector, from UV light disinfection systems and robotics, to enzyme cleaning products and sustainable paper products. Mitie has also launched a new campaign which showcases how the Science of Service®, which is powered by technology, driven by data and made exceptional by people, is the future of facilitates management.

Mitie secures five-year contract with the Government Property Agency
Mitie has secured a new five-year contract with the Government Property Agency. Covering 17 sites across GPA’s ‘central region’, the contract will see Mitie provide a range of facilities management services including cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste management and reception services. Through this contract, Mitie will support the GPA’s drive to transform how the Government’s office estates are operated.

Shoppers concerned about Covid safety as they return to the shops
Most Brits are still nervous about heading to the high street, with 73% worried about visiting shops and cafés without visible Covid-19 measures in place. More than half (53%) of adults say they will only go into shops with visible Covid measures in place, such as air ventilation, UV technology and increased cleaning regimes. Consumers will spend around half an hour longer in stores and cafes with measures in place.

Mitie donates hygiene equipment to the Ukrainian relief centre
Mitie worked with humanitarian partners Stronghold Global to pack an articulated lorry full of essential hygiene equipment supplies. Equipment including sanitiser, gloves, and coveralls has been transported to the GE Operator Humanitarian Centre in Warsaw from Mitie’s warehouse in Swindon.

Mitie is using solar to help Essex schools cut their carbon
Mitie has supported Essex County Council with the installation of roof mounted solar panels at 15 schools across the county. The panels will generate 700,000 kWh of energy, equivalent to powering 185 homes a year, saving 180 tonnes of CO2 and around £115,000 annually. A further 28 school sites and council buildings will also have solar panels installed over the next 3 months, saving an additional 220 tonnes of CO2 a year.
