Mitie hits annual ESG targets putting it on track to meet 2025 goals
2022 ESG report released detailing how Mitie hit all 13 ESG targets for the year, putting Mitie on track to meet its overall 2025 ESG goals. Environmental highlights include saving customers 375,000 tonnes of carbon across 800 sites and cutting 11,000 tonnes of CO2 by expanding EVs to more than a third of the Mitie fleet. Procurement team ensures 50% more diverse suppliers, with VCSE spend doubled to reduce inequality in the supply chain. 1,000 apprentices now employed across 60 programmes to drive social mobility.

Mitie secures new IFM contract with London South Bank University Group
Mitie has been awarded a contract with London South Bank University (LSBU) Group to deliver integrated facilities management services for five years, with the option to extend for a further two. Delivering services across LSBU and South Bank College’s estates, this is the first time that all FM services across the university group will be brought together under one provider. Mitie’s social value approach will be key to the contract, including introducing apprentices and work placement opportunities for local residents.

Mitie wins contract to provide security to the DWP estate
Mitie has been appointed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to provide the largest security workforce within the Government estate, alongside building and operating a 24/7 Security Control Centre. The Security Guarding contract is valued at £136m per year over the 7-year initial term alongside a £3m per year Security Control Centre contract, initially running for a term of 5 years. Mitie will use DWP’s strategic risk-based deployment model providing a physical security presence at Jobcentres and other DWP buildings to enable a safe environment and deter violence, complemented by 24/7 remote monitoring.

Mitie awarded Disability Confident Leader status
Mitie has been awarded Disability Confident Level 3 – Leader status, the highest level of the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme, recognising its leadership in disability inclusion. Led by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Disability Confident scheme supports employers to recruit, retain and develop disabled people and those with long-term health conditions. The recognition demonstrates how disability inclusion underpins Mitie’s wider commitments to supporting people facing barriers to employment into sustainable work.

Mitie named three-time award winner for its diversity and inclusion
Mitie has been named the winner in two categories, ‘Best Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Initiative’ and ‘Best Learning Initiative for Business Culture’, at the Business Culture Awards 2021. Both awards recognise Mitie’s bespoke ‘Count Me In’ learning programme, focused on promoting diversity and inclusion. The Mitie Foundation has also won the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion ‘Driving Social Inclusion in the Workplace’ Award for its Ready2Work programme.
