Mitie Landscapes backs No Mow May to support biodiversity

Mitie is supporting the ‘No Mow May’ campaign which promotes biodiversity by postponing some of the lawn mowing for one month. Mitie customers, covering 50 sites across the UK, have already committed to leaving some of their grass alone for the month of May. By supporting the campaign, run by conservation charity Plantlife, Mitie and its customers will be supporting more attractive environments for pollinators and encouraging biodiversity.

Mitie’s apprenticeship credentials earn membership to The 5% Club

Mitie has been named as a member of The 5% Club, a collection of organisations committed to providing “earn and learn” opportunities. The appointment comes as a result of Mitie’s consistent commitment to apprenticeships throughout its business, with over 1,100 apprentices working at Mitie at any one time. The membership builds on Mitie’s existing accolades in the area, including being listed as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer.

Andy Burnham unveils Mitie’s new northern technology hub

Mitie has unveiled its new Technical Services Operations Centre (TSOC) in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, showcasing its cutting-edge workplace technology. Officially opened by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, the TSOC is Mitie’s new Hub for the North of England. The new site marks Mitie’s significant investment in the region, with the facility supporting 400 local jobs and apprenticeships, many of which are specialist technical roles.

Mitie wins contract with the Department for Work and Pensions

Mitie has won a new life systems contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) worth £29 million. Under the new contract, Mitie will be responsible for the maintenance of all water, fire, lift and electrical systems across 900 UK sites. This is in addition to Mitie’s existing contract to deliver cleaning, maintenance, and engineering services for DWP.

One in five say their employers should do more to keep them safe

Research from Mitie reveals that one in five (19%) Brits think their employers should be doing more to keep them safe. This rises to more than a quarter (27%) of those aged 18-34 and to over a third (36%) of people who work outside of traditional hours or commute in the dark. In response, Mitie has announced a package of employee wellbeing initiatives, including a pioneering partnership with personal safety app, WalkSafe, to help organisations support the personal safety of their employees.

Mitie to provide key services to 19 Coronavirus Mobile Testing Units

Mitie to operate 19 Coronavirus Mobile Testing Units across England and Wales. The Units run from nine of the Regional Testing Centres Mitie currently operates in Ashford, Bournemouth, Deeside, Ebbw Vale, Gloucester, Llandudno, Newbury, Salisbury and Penrith. Services include driving the Mobile Units used for carrying the testing supplies to and from the testing locations, installing the site’s equipment and cleaning and security services.
