Mitie partners WalkSafe as people feel unsafe after dark

As Mitie announces its partnership with WalkSafe, the UK’s leading personal safety app, a new survey on perceptions of safety has found that 44% of women and 21% of men do not feel safe when walking in the dark.

Mitie lands two contract extensions with DWP

Mitie has extended its Facilities Management and Life Systems Services contracts with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for one year, with the option to extend for a further year. The two contract extensions will see Mitie continue to deliver services including engineering, maintenance, and cleaning as well as asset safety checks to 1,000 DWP sites. Sustainability will take a central role across both contracts, with Mitie increasing its electric vehicle charging system rollout, and introducing solar panels across DWP offices.

Mitie strengthens partnership with NHS Trusts in Hertfordshire

Mitie has won four five-year contracts with Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Hertfordshire NHS Community Trust. The contracts will see some 300 Mitie employees deliver services, including cleaning, security, portering, linen and laundry, catering and helpdesk, for healthcare sites across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Norfolk. The services were previously managed by Interserve Facilities Management but were renewed following Mitie’s acquisition of Interserve in November 2020.

Legislation lethargy hits UK organisations as volume and intensity of sustainability reporting increases

Wave of sustainability stress as almost two in five (38%) sustainability decision makers admit to not being clear about what they need to report on with almost half (46%) now reporting to at least three different ESG frameworks as confusion about the legislation labyrinth builds. Over a quarter (28%) say they are not sure they are equipped to comply if legislation becomes stricter and three fifths (60%) are worried about the impact on both their reputation and company finances if their reporting is found to be insufficient. Just 13% believe the current approach to reporting works, yet the majority are not in favour of a shift to sector specific reporting frameworks or a move to one single UK and EU-wide standard.

Mitie appoints Kathryn Dolan as Chief People Officer

Mitie has announced the appointment of its new Chief People Officer, Kathryn Dolan, who joins from Bureau Veritas. Kathryn will be leading all aspects of the People and Culture strategy across Mitie’s 72,000 strong workforce. She will also join Mitie’s Group Executive Team to lead the delivery of Mitie’s best-in-class People strategy.

Mitie gears up for new £50m contract with Halfords Group

Mitie has been awarded a new £50 million contract for five years with cycling and motoring retailer, Halfords Group, to provide engineering maintenance services. Mitie will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of building equipment including heating and ventilation systems, lighting, fire alarm systems and boilers at over 950 Halfords Group sites across the UK and Ireland. Mitie will take a technology-led approach, with Halfords Group colleagues able to report maintenance requirements through Mitie’s Aria app and site managers gaining full oversight of jobs through Mitie’s Mozaic software.
