The Butler Trust is a charity that recognises the work of frontline custodial colleagues and HRH has personally presented its awards since 1985. During her visit, HRH met with 2024 and 2018 Butler Trust Award winners Irfa Chaudri and Jackie Smart, as well as many other frontline colleagues from across the Centre.

Mitie recognised as Top 50 Inclusive UK Employer for the sixth year
Mitie has been named one of the UK’s top 50 most inclusive employers by Inclusive Companies in its 2023 Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers Index. This is Mitie’s sixth consecutive year on the Top 50 Inclusive UK Employer list, since its inception eight years ago. The announcement follows a successful year of award recognitions including Mitie’s third year as a Gold Award recipient on the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS), and its Silver Status Award from the Inclusive Employers Standard.

Mitie has won the ‘Private Sector Fleet of the Year (Medium to Large)’ category at the Green Fleet Awards 2020. The award recognised Mitie’s progress in transitioning its entire fleet[*] to electric vehicles, with over 800 already in its fleet.

Mitie enhances security operations at Sellafield with new contract
Mitie has secured a new five‑year contract to continue delivering critical security services at Sellafield, Europe’s largest nuclear facility. By providing a dedicated Intelligence Analyst within Mitie’s national intelligence centre, the contract will enhance data sharing among key stakeholders, on site and throughout the UK’s nuclear estate. A new Nuclear Security Centre of Excellence will be established to set consistent national standards for nuclear security in terms of recruitment and training.

Mitie sails into new contract with the Port of Dover
Mitie has secured a new three-year contract with Dover Harbour Board to deliver waste management services for the Port of Dover. The contract will see Mitie support the Dover Harbour Board in its aim to minimise waste and maintain zero waste to landfill with a range of circular economy initiatives, including re-use projects for redundant furniture and eliminating single-use plastics. Dover Harbour Board will also collect detailed carbon and waste data across its entire site, through Mitie’s best-in-class waste data reporting system.

The first FM company to sign up to The Climate Group’s initiatives
Mitie has joined The Climate Group’s RE100 initiative, committing to only use 100% renewable electricity across all its sites – which Mitie has already achieved. Mitie is the eighth company in the world and first in the FM industry to join all three of The Climate Group’s initiatives – EP100, EV100 and RE100. Membership to RE100 is part of the company’s Plan Zero commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2025.
