Mitie saves 80 tonnes of uniform from landfill with recycling project

Mitie has collected and recycled 10,000 bags of old Interserve uniform, diverting 80 tonnes of material from landfill. More than 1,800 tonnes of carbon emissions have been saved by recycling the uniforms. Materials from recycled garments will be re-used to make new clothes, insulation and other textile products.

Mitie strengthens risk capabilities with ISO 31000 validation

Mitie has attained confirmation that it is operating in accordance with ISO 31000:2018, showcasing its commitment to maintaining high-quality risk management practices. The validation comes following a rigorous independent auditing process across the business which assessed over 350 pieces of information. This builds on Mitie’s risk management credentials, having attained ISO 22301 certification in March last year.

Mitie acquires Cliniwaste, a sustainable healthcare waste company

Mitie has acquired Cliniwaste, experts in the specialist treatment of waste in healthcare environments, turning plastic waste into a reusable resource. Cliniwaste embraces specialist and sustainable recycling processes, using steam and pressure to sterilise clinical plastic waste that would previously have been incinerated or placed in landfill. Cliniwaste will complement Mitie’s existing support for the NHS, helping to achieve its sustainability targets.

Mitie bolsters hybrid workspace evolution with the launch of Sphere

Mitie has launched Sphere, its new technology solution to help businesses design the most effective workspaces for their people. Through detailed surveys and data analysis Mitie’s workplace design experts can use data and insights collected by Sphere to create work environments which also support the attraction and retention of the best talent. Early trials of Sphere show colleagues want workplaces to be ‘destinations’ that also offer the benefits of working from home, such as outdoor areas and a range of spaces to suit different tasks.

Mitie has been awarded the best ranking possible, a ‘negligible risk’ score, by leading ESG rating agency, Sustainalytics. With a score of 9.8, Mitie is now ranked in the top 2% of businesses globally and first in the Business Support Services industry. The rating marks the third time in two months that Mitie has been upgraded by an ESG ratings agency.
