Our colleague networks offer members a safe and confidential space to discuss issues affecting them, help improve our policies and procedures and keep in touch with external policy developments.

Each of our dedicated groups – on age, gender equality, disability and for BAME and LGBTQ+ colleagues, among others – is sponsored by a senior leader who advocates for diversity and inclusion and promotes the agenda across the Group.

We are proud to be recognised as number 6 on the UK Top 50 inclusive companies list.

Women account for 32% of our workforce. We now have gender parity on our Board of Directors while, as of 2019, women account for 11% of our Executive Leadership Team and 24% of our Group Leadership Team.

Mitie Group is required to publish data on two legal entities, Mitie Limited and Mitie Property Services (UK) Limited. In the first year of reporting, between 5 April 2017 and 5 April 2018, our gender pay gap dropped from 16% to 13.8% and our bonus gap from 71% to 47.3%. While this is an improvement, we know we still have work to do.

To this end, we have enhanced our maternity pay offering, introduced flexible working and set a strategic objective to increase the number of women entering science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) roles. Our new people system improves the way we measure gender and job level reporting.

Mitie Stars

Our annual award scheme, Mitie Stars, is dedicated to recognising the teams and individuals that go above and beyond for customers or colleagues.

Living Wage
We want our people to feel valued – and we understand the role that wages play in that.

All colleagues based at Mitie offices receive the real Living Wage and we are working towards becoming a Recognised Service Provider with the Living Wage Foundation by 2020.

Apprenticeships
We have over 400 apprentices working across our portfolio of contracts.

In the last financial year, we paid £4.7m into the Apprenticeship Levy scheme and we are now partnering with specialist providers to ensure we deliver the highest quality learning that meets the needs of both the individual and the business.

Mitie Sales Academy
In January 2019, we launched our year-long sales apprenticeship scheme, the Mitie Sales Academy. We trained 12 recruits and helped them achieve a Level Four sales certification from the Association of Professional Sales (APS). This new project, which lays the groundwork for future professional apprenticeship programmes, was made possible thanks to Apprenticeship Levy funding.

Learning Hub
In 2018, we launched ‘Learning Hub’, our dedicated learning platform for colleagues. It contains an extensive library of titles from Active Listening to Writing Reports and covers a wide range of topics from Business Skills to Wellbeing at Work. With videos, audio, games and quizzes available, the content caters different learning preferences.
