Mitie named Top 50 Inclusive UK Employer for fifth year running

  • Mitie has been named one of the UK’s top 50 most inclusive employers by Inclusive Companies for the fifth year running
  • The announcement recognises Mitie’s initiatives to promote equality, diversity and inclusion across the business, as well as the commitment from colleagues at all levels to embrace and implement these programmes
  • Mitie is the only facilities management company to make the list and ranks 17th, as it continues to set the standard for diversity and inclusion in the FM industry

Mitie has been ranked 17th in the list of Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers, marking the fifth year it has been recognised by Inclusive Companies, the organisation which compiles the list. Mitie is the only facilities management company on the list, with its inclusion reflecting its significant investment in equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives such as its Count Me InGiving Back and Ready2Work programmes. The ranking also recognises Mitie’s commitment to continually identify and address areas where it can improve.

Over recent years, Mitie has been recognised with several awards for its diversity and inclusion initiatives. In 2021, Mitie received two wins at the Business Culture Awards 2021, in the ‘Best Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Initiative’ and ‘Best Learning Initiative for Business Culture’ categories, for its bespoke ‘Count Me In’ learning programme. This followed its win in the ‘Driving Social Inclusion in the Workplace’ at the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI) Awards for its flagship ‘Ready2Work’ programme. Most recently, Mitie took home the silver at the UK Social Mobility Awards (SOMOs) in the ‘Community Programme of the Year’ category for its school volunteering programme, ‘Giving Back’.

In addition to these schemes, Mitie also has six employee networks, focused on supporting inclusion across the business. These include CHORD (its race and ethnicity network), Enable (its network dedicated to disability and neurodiversity related topics), Mitie Military, Mitie Women Can (its gender equality network), Parents and Carers, and Proud to Be, which encourage colleagues to engage, educate, and have conversations around diversity.

The Inclusive Top 50 Employers List acknowledges and ranks businesses which are consistently working hard to be truly inclusive and encompass all types of diversity. Now in its seventh year, it has become the definitive cross-industry index harnessing both best practice and innovation, with the goal of driving inclusion for all.

Jasmine Hudson, Chief People Officer, Mitie, said:

“Being featured as one of the Inclusive Top 50 Employers for a fifth year running is testament to our continued work and focus to become a truly inclusive business where all our colleagues can bring their true selves to work. The success of our equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives are, only possible with all 68,000 of our colleagues supporting this work. Thank you to all our colleagues for showing up, embracing ED&I, and embedding it into their everyday working lives.”

Paul Sesay, CEO, Inclusive Companies, said:

“The independent advisory panel of Diversity and Inclusion experts review and analyse each and every submission. They look at all areas of diversity, including age, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ+ and religion. Those organisations who have participated submit a great wealth of evidence regarding their inclusive practices, covering a wide range of areas and topics, and it is from this that the experts determine the Top 50 Inclusive employers.”
