Delivering winter maintenance during our client’s peak trading period

The challenge

In 2018, Mitie secured a winter maintenance contract for a retail & distribution company with 16 fulfilments centres across the UK.

The company’s peak trading periods are during late Autumn and Winter, the time of year when the UK is subjected to its coldest and most hazardous weather. The winter services we provide are essential for keeping the company trading throughout this critical period.


To meet this very demanding challenge, a dedicated team provides a bespoke service at each of the company’s sites.

The teams are supported by market leading technology through our ‘Live Landscapes’ portal and ‘Go-grit’ app.

Mitie also provide the company with janitorial services. Following a ‘One Mitie’ approach, every year a selection of these colleagues receives winter service training, ensuring there is flexible resource available to help if we are hit by unusually large amounts of snowweather.


The combination of the portal and the app provides the company with realtime information on where and when activity takes place, along with insight around service performance.

Further, in the unlikely event that the company were to face a winter related accident liability claim, we could use our accurate service delivery data to help defend it.
