Mitie has officially been revalidated as a Gold Award recipient on the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for a further five years, having first been accredited in 2020. This extension highlights its consistent and longstanding commitment to supporting the Armed Forces.
Mitie’s Military Network supports over 1,000 colleagues from the defence and military community – including veterans, reservists, and families of those in the forces. It provides a platform for them to connect, share experiences and access support, hosting events such as regular military coffee mornings to bring members together. It also provides colleagues across the business with the tools to better support and accommodate ex-military colleagues.
The Network aims to help these colleagues as they transition into civilian life by giving them the tools to develop careers within facilities and project management. Mitie runs a dedicated recruitment programme through its Armed Forces Career Portal which matches military skills with suitable roles as well as providing work placements for veterans and offering career guidance at events through the Government’s Career Transition Partnership.
Mitie also recognises the vital contribution of its reservists who play a crucial role in the country’s wider Armed Forces and can be called up for service at any time. To support them in fulfilling these important commitments, Mitie grants reservists ten days of paid leave each year on top of their annual holiday entitlement. In addition to these initiatives, Mitie colleagues actively support veterans through volunteer work, partnerships and events with an annual ‘remember together’ event hosted across Mitie offices as an act of remembrance on 11 November. Most recently, in November 2025 two Mitie representatives took part in the London Poppy Walk, raising £300 to support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Mitie’s ongoing commitment to both its Military Network and the wider Armed Forces is reflected in its revalidation as a Gold Award recipient on the ERS, recognising the business’ sustained efforts to support the Armed Forces community and help veterans establish a clear path forward after service.
Mark Caskey, Managing Director Projects and Executive Sponsor of ERS, Mitie, said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded Gold Level accreditation on the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme once again, recognising our ongoing commitment to supporting veterans, reservists, and the families of those who serve.
“We’re proud to stand alongside the Armed Forces community, empowering veterans and reservists to build successful civilian careers. This Gold Award revalidation is proof that together, we’re making a real difference.”
