Article 2 February 2020 Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR) – Accommodation strategy The challenge LLWR felt that their current offices were significantly over capacity and not fit for purpose. They required a partner to undertake an office accommodation review aimed at identifying both cost saving and, through improving the working environment, increased employee retention and collaboration – this included the implementation of activity-based working. Solution It was essential to identify the critical success factors that would drive the future accommodation strategy and, as such, structured interviews were held with key stakeholders. This feedback was combined with utilisation studies and information on the organisation’s growth strategy. Outcome To support Board decision making, a Business Case and Outline Business Case were produced in line with Green Book requirements. Alongside recommendations to improve the working environment, the proposal identified cost saving of up-to £4m over 10-years and a potential operating expense reduction of up-to 30% over 10 years.
