Community progress
As the UK’s leading Facilities Transformation company, with over 3,000 clients, our scale places us at the heart of the communities we serve. Social value is embedded in how we deliver services, creating measurable outcomes for our customers, our business and the communities in which we operate.
With over half of our operations supporting the public sector, we align to the UK Government Social Value Model (PPN 002), embedding these requirements into our culture, contracts and delivery. This ensures we consistently contribute to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of local communities.
Progress against our targets in FY26
The end of FY26 marked the first nine months of delivery against our Plan Thrive strategy. Strong early results demonstrate real-world impact, with around 265,000 people uplifted and 404 places supported to prosper as part of our Plan Thrive pledges. Colleagues delivered 35,706 volunteering hours, significantly exceeding our target of 25,000, while spend with VCSEs reached £3.19m, ahead of our £2.50m target. We also strengthened our supply chain impact through the launch of our Sustainability and Social Value Supplier Charter
In year one of Plan Thrive, our focus has been on delivering tangible impact across communities, colleagues and suppliers, with performance exceeding expectations in key areas. We also undertook targeted reviews of elements of our delivery model, including supported hiring through the Mitie Foundation. This is reflected in performance against the supported hiring target.
Operational measures of health, safety and wellbeing continued to demonstrate progress during the year. We delivered 41,153 hours of health and wellbeing training, reflecting ongoing investment in colleague development and support. At the same time, LiveSafe Champions represented 1.21% of the workforce, providing a network of advocates who help promote safe behaviours, wellbeing awareness and a positive safety culture across Mitie.

In FY26, total social value reached £317m, exceeding the FY25 contribution despite updates to proxy values for apprenticeship training in line with Impact Evaluation Standards.

In addition to Mitie-wide initiatives, we also tracked social value delivery across 126 customer accounts in FY26 through the Thrive platform up from 103 in FY25, providing a consistent approach to measurement, reporting and performance management at both contract and place level. With further scaling planned in FY27 and FY28, its continued rollout strengthens transparency and accountability in how social value is delivered and reported to customers, while enhancing our ability to evidence progress against our Plan Thrive pledges.
